WUT? You’ve clearly not the faintest idea what leftism is. Pelosi is centre-left and Boxer is firmly a centrist. To compare the degree to which Santorum is right wing to the degree that those women are left wing is patently absurd. You want “loony-left” try Noam Chomsky in your comparison or even Bernie Sanders who’s at least a socialist. The Democratic party is a centrist party, some of its members being centre-left others centre-right - depending on issue. Very, very, very few are leftists at all, and I’d say none are far left. This is the problem with 2-party political systems, not only do the two parties actually drift into each other, but you get a totally false idea of the true political spectrum when you only have two apparent choices.
